About Me:

Bismillah Pictures, Images and Photos

May God give you peace and mercy

I am a convert to islam, a sister in faith to many and by blood to one, a daugter to my greatly beloved parents, a wife to the most intelligent, kind and courageous man I know, and a friend to some fine people.

I am studying applied sciences of education in Helsinki University. So I might become "a nanny" after some time... or if you want to put it in a more fancy way "a pre-school teacher". But I am having great doubts about this at the moment.

Muslim Sisters Pictures, Images and Photos

Hobbies:
Reading, horse riding, nature in all forms ;). Gym, althoug I don't think people considerate that as a hobby anymore, it's more like a duty of citizen.

Movies:
Braking the Waves(1996, directed by Lars von Trier);

Jerusalem(1996, directed by Bille Augustin, based on novel by Selma Lagerlöf);

Kingdom of Heaven (2005, directed by Ridley Scott);

The Message (1976, directed by Moustapha Akkad);

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Wo hu cang long, 2000, directed by Ang Lee, based on novel by Wang Dulu);

Dances with Wolfs (1990, directed by Kevin Costner)

Books:
Most novels and other books I read in Finish but a wrote a few comments in English. :D

Khalid Hossein:Leijapoika (The Kite Runner 2003)

This is one of the novels that have really touched me deeply. Although the hero of this story was living in societies far away from mine and led a very different kind of life from what I'm having, I could still find themes from the story that have touched my own life as well. I also have to mention that I was really disappointed to the movie that was made based on this book. I think the most important part of the entire story was covered only faintly. That was the finding of presence of God.

Paulo Coelho:Alkemisti (O Alquimista 1988), Portobellon noita (A bruxa de Portobello 2006), Zahir (O Zahir 2005), Veronika päättää kuolla (Veronika decide morrer 1998), Piedrajoen rannalla istuin ja itkin (Na margem do rio Piedra eu sentei e chorei 1994)

Last spring 2008 I read these Paulo Coelho's books one after another. He really got me hooked up. Some of his ideas and thoughts got me thinking... One can only find happines from within and it is not necessary to own to love.

Ed Husain: The Islamist

Paulo Freire: Sorrettujen pedagogiikka (Pedagogia do oprimido, 1970)

By freeing the oppressed you'll also set the opressor free.

Leo Tolstoi: Anna Karenina (1875-1877)

Music:
I love classical...

TV:
I like documentaries... Last summer I HAD to watch all possible films about Mount Everest that I was just capable of finding from the Web.

Big Love is my absolute favourite right now!

Interests:
Different cultures, especially Arabic culture, languages, PEOPLE in general, nature, wandering.... I wish I could go to a hike...!! I have the ability to get overly passionate just about anything, for a while. ;)

Salam. I just thought I would like to share with you my blog, which you may not have came across. I would like to hear any feedback you may have. I know we disagree on various issues, but I'm convinced we agree on this one; http://blogs.muxlim.com/Gio_/understanding-the-difference/

Yes sister many of our muslim sisters are leaving islam in west africa compared to the ones embracing islam. The reason is lack of islamic education, lazyness of practising islam, hijab restriction,poverty,men domination. Women want to have fun, like dancing, dressing half naked,drinking alcohol and partying in pubs, wearing make ups and wigs. They feel islam restrict them from doing all this stuff. It saddens me a lot. I know once their Imaan goes higher they should find islam worth than this duniya. Rich muslim in the world donate money for sports and other duniya issues, but feel stingy when it comes to build islamic school, library or hospitals to cater for african muslim ummah. Many muslims cant get job to private companies unless they convert to christianity or sometimes is due to lack of eduction. Parents didnt empasize education on girls, now they find themselves helpless in this computer age. They end up doing menial jobs with less pay, Let anybody point finger on me, i really dont care, but muslim are the poorest in black africa. I am angry with the whole system. When i express my feeling, muslim says we have better Akhera, this duniya is just a past time. But we need money even to be able to acquire islamic knowledge. We have to be healthy and fit to practise islam. All this cost money. I am crying, i think i should stop here for now. Masalaam. Allah Bless Black African Muslim and all muslim. AMEEN
